Fun Summer Field Trips

In case you get bored hanging out by the pool this summer I have compiled a lists of exciting and potentially informative fields trips for you this summer.
Dont worry some of them aren't all that informative

Nature in New England

Camel's Hump, Waterbury, VT - This one is a hike, pardon the pun, but if your in the area it is certainly worth checking out.  The view of the Green Mountain State from the top is unbeatable

Soapstone Mountain, Ellington, CT - The best mountain biking trails I have found yet.  It is a lot of terrain but if you get to the top, I recommend taking the paved road down because your along the way you will pass an amazing overlook. Spectacular! Oh, and by the way you can hike the trails on foot too.
Silver Sands, Milford, CT - Not an awesome beach, partly because of the BILLIONS of seashells, but if you come at low tide their is a walkway out to an island that is a protected bird sanctuary.  You're not suppose to venture very far inland because it is protected, but if you listen closely you can hear a lot of interesting noises.  If you have access to a canoe or kayak I recommend launching at Milford's public launch and paddling to the island.

Museums and Aquariums

Connecticut Science Center, Hartford, CT - I haven't been yet, but my friends have and it sounds fun. If you go to the Wethersfield Public Library you might be able to might be able to get vouchers for reduced admission

Museum of Science, Boston, MA - You probably went on a middle school or even grade school field trip, but you have to admit you had fun right! So why not go back!

Mystic Aquarium, Mystic, CT - The best part about this place is the penguins are from Africa so the spend their summers in the sun just like we do.  Also the beluga whales are magnificent animals.
